The town
Tarrés is a village that deserves to be visited with tranquillity. Having a walk through its streets, we can appreciate the history that the buildings reveal. It is an habitual place to spend summer and an ideal site to practice mountain-bike in the circuit shared with Fulleda. The township, which is mainly agricultural, is part of a region of vines and almond trees protected by pine forests. In the outskirts of the town there are many stone quarries, now unexploited but in past times from which was extracted some of the stones used to build the Monastery of Poblet. The main tourist and historical sights are: - The Parochial Church of Asunción de Maria: Constructed during the XVIII century. Its simple neoclassic style facade contrasts with its baroque interior and its bell tower.
- The Town Hall is also an historical building which was constructed during the XII century, during the creation of the town.
- All the houses of Tarrés are of a great beauty and stone built; Among all of them we can admire in particular Cal Magre, with its splendid facade dated 1809, and Cal Comú, constructed during the XVII century.
- The Hermitage of Santa Cruz, that sometimes welcomes hermits, is also located outside Tarrés.
